Grilled Sausage Gyros and Extra Crispy Fries
This Greek-style gyros recipe is so simple, even your kids will have fun making them. Save it as a special treat for Father’s Day or any day!
4 mild pork sausages
1 red onion, cut into 1/2-inch (1 cm) thick rounds
1 red pepper, quartered
1 green pepper, quartered
1 tbsp olive oil
1/2 bag (650 g) McCain® Extra Crispy Straight Cut Fries
1 tomato, diced
4 large pita breads, warmed and halved
1 cup prepared tzatziki sauce
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat; grease grate well. Grill sausages for 12 to 15 minutes or until cooked through. Toss onion, and red and green peppers with oil; grill for 3 or 4 minutes per side or until grill-marked and tender. Slice sausages and chop vegetables into bite-size pieces.
- Meanwhile, bake McCain® Extra Crispy Straight Cut Fries according to package directions.
- Divide sausages, grilled vegetables and tomato among pita breads. Top with McCain® Extra Crispy Straight Cut Fries and tzatziki sauce.
Tip: Add crumbled feta cheese to gyros if desired.
