Mexican Chili Cheese Fries Recipe

This Modifry™ will have your taste buds doing the cha-cha-cha! Thanks to Chef Greg Couillard from the Fox and Fiddle for creating this flavour packed Mexican chili cheese fries recipe.

Servings: 4-6

Ingredients

  • 5 Large cloves garlic finely minced
  • 2 medium chopped onions
  • Olive oil
  • 2 tsps of salt
  • 4 bay leaves
  • 1 tsp of ground pepper
  • 1 fresh poblano chili diced
  • 2 small red bell peppers diced
  • 1 kg of ground beef
  • 1 lb of chorizo sausage meat
  • 1 tsp achiote
  • 2 tsps of Chipotle powder
  • 1 tsp of ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons of guajillo
  • 3 cups of water
  • 6 oz of tomato paste
  • 1 can of black beans
  • Pinch of dried oregano
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • ¼ cup of mozzarella
  • ½ cup of feta

Directions

Directions for Chili:

  1. Sautee the onions until they are soft (about 5 minutes) and then add the poblano and bell peppers, mixing well.
  2. Add the beef and sausage and cook until done.
  3. Add the remaining spices
  4. Add remaining ingredients and reduce until thickened and not watery.


Directions: 

  1. Prepare McCain® Superfries® Straight Cut according to package directions.
  2. Toss hot fries in ancho chili powder.
  3. Pour prepared chili over fries.
  4. Top with mozzarella and feta cheese.
  5. Top with crema mixed with green onions and jalapeños.
  6. Garnish with cilantro.
